MCC Land outbid 14 other bids from various developers in November 2020, winning the contract for the Tanah Merah Kechil Link site for $248.99 million. Under a long-term collaboration, MCC Land and The Place Holdings agreed to collaborate on projects such as Sceneca Residence/Sceneca Square. The development of other major projects such as Universal Studios Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore Expo, and Keppel Distripark evolved from MCC Group’s work in Singapore, which began with the building of HDB estates and public transportation infrastructure.
MCC Land, a property development company, was formed in 2010 by the group. The Canopy, Canberra Residences, and One Canberra in the northern suburb; The Santorini and The Alps Residences in Tampines Avenue 10; as well as the mixed-use development The Poiz Residences and The Poiz Centre next to the Potong Pasir MRT Station and Queens Peak are among its residential developments. Up until April 2021, MCC Land has completed 12 projects with a total of 6,000 units in Singapore.
Winning the GLS site on Bernam Street would be one of MCC’s standout projects. For the developer group, this is a major concern. The government launched the CBD Incentive Program in 2019 to encourage developers to revitalize and relocate the CBD as a place for people to live, work, and play. Tanjong Pagar is one of the oldest districts in the Downtown area. The developer’s first project in the Core Central Region (CCR) is One Bernam, which represents a watershed moment.
The collaboration, on the contrary, has paved the way for The Place Holdings to collaborate on a long-term basis and is part of both firms’ strategy to maximize profit from property developments and diversify their revenue portfolio. Cultural tourism, real estate development, and property management are among the businesses that Place Holdings operates
